What Is a Hydraulic Distribution Manifold Rack?
A hydraulic distribution manifold rack distributes hydraulic pressure from a portable electric or engine-driven
hydraulic power unit (HPU) to multiple hydraulically operated valves from one centralized location. Depending on the application, a single manifold can typically connect to and operate between two and twelve hydraulically actuated valves.
Operating Multiple Valves from One Portable HPU
When hydraulically operated valves are in remote areas, a permanent power or hydraulic pressure source may not be available. A portable HPU such as the
PEAK HPU-EP can be transported to each valve and connected as needed to provide power for operation.
However, moving and reconnecting the portable HPU at each individual valve can be time consuming, especially when several valves are grouped together or difficult to access.
In this situation, a hydraulic distribution manifold rack can be permanently located near the cluster of hydraulically operated valves. The distribution manifold can be conveniently located for easy vehicular access (e.g. near a service road). Hydraulic lines (hose or tubing) can be run from the distribution manifold to each valve.
How Does a Hydraulic Distribution Manifold Work?
Hydraulic lines run from the manifold rack to each valve actuator. By manually selecting the appropriate pressure and return paths at the manifold rack, the operator can direct hydraulic flow to open or close each valve from one location.
